Suicide at Fusionopolis?

Something interesting happened yesterday. Someone launched himself off the 23rd floor of Fusionopolis and fused his brain with the pavement below. Apparently someone from Institute of Infocomm Research (but this remains to be confirmed).

Tragic. And I don't mean to be sensationalizing something like this.

Just struck me as interesting that the apparent suicide occured at about 2pm yesterday, and reported all over on the internet chat rooms, but the incident never made an appearance in the newspapers today. Meanwhile a soldier who got run over by a vehicle was widely reported in the newspapers.

Just made me wonder if there is a media policy against reporting on apparent suicide incidents, and what the basis is for such a policy? Isn't news news?

I am absolutely officially traumatised. I still haven't recovered from seeing a double suicide in front of my apartment block. You might have read about it in THE NEWSPAPER. Blk 33 teluk blangah way. One dad and one son. Jumped of. In front of my block.. saw everything. :(. And I work where....?
Was just minding my business having a cig break infront of the building with buddires. Suddenly. Thup!! In front of me.! I am commiting my self to a mental institution if I don't get better soon. :( pray for me.

I know the person he doesn't work for A*star.

He was a lovely guy and we will miss him.

So tragic and sad. I understand he was non-local? It must have been something quite terrible that can drive someone to take his own life. And so far from home and loved ones.

Ja,

sorry to hear about that. I am very paranoid whenever up and about in a HDB estate... I know at any moment that I could see something I'd never be able to unsee for the rest of my life. At least on the internet, there's usually a warning!

Apparently the person is an employee of A*STAR but i wonder why did they send us internal mail claiming that the victim is not an A*STAR employee

how sure are you about the A*STAR link?

Curious, isn't it, if true? I wonder why the veil of secrecy.

I knew the man who so sadly took his own life. He was a young Frenchman who worked for ERG and was a lovely person. All those who had the honour to know him and/or work with him are deeply affected by this senseless tragedy.

RIP. You are missed. x

Such a sad and senseless loss. My condolences to his family and all his friends and loved ones.

In times like this words are woefully inadequate.

If anyone wishes to use this blog to share or ventilate his/her grief, please feel free to do so. And there's no need to identify the man.

God bless.

Gigamole, Thank you for those kind words. The company NRG is a small one and all the boys are very close so they are pulling together and supporting one another.

Ja, how traumatic for you. I do hope you are not suffering too badly. Please do see a counsellor as it really can help.
