I was most proud when I read today that our PM Lee Hsien Loong brought up the issue about the Rohingyas at the ASEAN Summit. This at a time when the other leaders would rather look the other way. "Illegal migrants from the Indian Ocean" they have apparently been labeled. Oh yeah...sure... kinda like 'Men from Atlantis'.
PM Lee said:
"As a very small country ourselves, Singapore understands why countries cannot simply take in everyone who lands on their shores. But we still have a responsibility to treat the Rohingya people humanely and try to alleviate their plight."
